  • Pavesh Sehmar

President

Pavesh is a third year undergraduate reading Mathematics and Economics. He has previously interned in Investment Management at Wesleyan Assurance in Birmingham and gained experience in Investments and Retirement at Mercer. In addition to his involvement in the conference, Pavesh is the Co-Head of Investor Relations and the Macroeconomic Head of Asia for the Griff Investment Fund. Outside of University, Pavesh is also a Data Reviewer for the EA Sports FIFA franchise since 2013.

  • Michael Hollihan-Sarmiento

Vice-President

Michael is a second year undergraduate student reading Economics/Econometrics/Finance Bsc. He has interned with Banco de Bogota at their Treasury Division and International Division. He is aspiring to carry on with a law degree after studying economics. He has most recently joined a summer internship with a wealth management team in Merril Lynch Bank of America New York.

  • Oscar Hughes

Vice-President

Oscar is currently a third year student reading Economics. In addition to being Vice President of the conference, he has completed various internships and work experience programs in accounting, marketing, PR, advertising and law, and is a co-founder of a student start-up. He is also a keen sportsman having represented the university at rugby and captained his college rugby team, he is currently the sports representative for his college JCRC and president of his college rugby team.

  • Sagar Pandit

Chairman

Sagar is a third year undergraduate reading Accounting, Business Finance and Management. In addition to his involvement in the conference, Sagar is the CEO at the Griff Investment Fund and Chairman Advisor for the York Commercial Law Conference. He has previously gained work experience at J.P. Morgan, ICBC, HSBC and Bank Mandiri amongst various insight days. In the summer of 2015, he was an intern at RAM Active Investments and therefore wishes to complete CFA Level I in December 2016 and secure a graduate role in asset management.

  • Zoe Copping

Director of Finance

Zoe is a third year student reading Biochemistry. Further to being the Director of Finance, she is the Chief Development Officer of the Griff Investment Fund and Treasurer of the University of York Clay Pigeon Shooting Society. Additionally she is an active member of both Essex and Yorkshire Young Farmers, helping to organise numerous charitable events throughout the year. Zoe has secured a summer internship at Rabobank London (Markets) and has interned at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer prior to university.

  • Claudia Sadde

Director of Marketing

Claudia is a third year undergraduate reading Accounting, Business Finance and Management. She has previously interned at Europartners Services S.A., and at Laidlaw & Company, a boutique Healthcare Investment Bank. She is now a Freelancer at CLEVIS Research, a research and consulting company.  Aside from her commitment to the conference, Claudia is an Senior Analyst at the Griff Investment Fund. She is also the International Officer for the Goodricke College Junior Committee. She aspires to pursue a career in Investment Baking.

  • Bethany Tate

Director of Operations

Bethany is a third year undergraduate student reading Mathematics. She has prior experience in media and operations, previously working as the secretary of press and publicity at the University of York Netball Club. Additionally, she has recently organised a successful charity evening as well as multiple sports tournaments, and hopes to use the skills gained from these to pursue a career in financial operations.

  • Raleigh Addington

Director of Speakers' Engagement

Raleigh is a second year undergraduate studying Economics and Politics. He is hoping to enter into investment management abroad upon graduating. He has been the financial manager for a music festival, the largest York university campus event. He has interned and work experienced with a number of well known firms including Brewin Dolphin, Rathbone, Smith & Williamson and ING Bank.

  • Clemens Hirsch

Webmaster

Clemens is a second year undergraduate reading Mathematics and Philosophy. He has previous experience with full stack web development and has recently completed a website for a local business in Washington State, USA. In his free time, Clemens likes to code and work with computers. In the future, he wants to pursue a career in software engineering.

  • Chris Adamou

Officer of Finance

Chris is a second year undergraduate reading Economics and Finance. He has a vast range of experience in professional services allowing for a deeper insight into the entire corporate world. Chris has completed a set of accounts for a hotel in Chartered Accountancy, managed property and investment portfolios for Arsenal FC football players in legal services, experienced gambling management, in addition to banking services with Barclays. This summer he was a summer intern for the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment engaging with individuals in the financial world to further grasp understanding of financial services. Alongside his commitments to the Conference, he is also the Treasurer of the universities’ RAG society, controlling the accounts for all university charity projects. In the future, Chris hopes to pursue a career in financial advisory with a particular interest in cost and tax.

  • Jaspal Johal

Officer of Finance

Jaspal is a second year student reading Accounting, Business Finance and Management. Aside from his commitments at the conference he is also an author at the Market Mogul. Jaspal has had vast experience in professional services such as spending time in accounting practice. Alongside this he holds interests in travelling and sports.

  • Luke Collins

Officer of Marketing

Luke is a second year reading Economics and Econometrics. He has previously interned at Hiscox insurance and completed a spring programme with Goldman Sachs. Luke is head of Industrials and Basic Materials at the Griff Investment Fund and is hoping to start a career in Investment Management.

  • Lauren Wickins

Officer of Marketing

Lauren is a second year undergraduate reading Accounting, Business Finance and Management. Aside from her committments to the conference, she is also the treasurer for the Business, Accounting and Mnagement society and the EY Student Digital Brand Ambassador. This year, she spent a month of the summer au pairing in Spain whilst teaching children English. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in Accountancy.

  • Johanna Verenkotte

Officer of Operations

Johanna is a second year Business and Management Student. She is currently employed at Media Skunk Works, an SEO company, specialising in client engagement and negotiation. During term-time she represents the BSc cohort as a Course Representative and is involved in the Griff Investment Fund as a Junior Analyst. Having lived most of her life abroad, in the US, Israel and Germany, she has chosen to study in the UK, hoping to pursue a career in wealth management.

  • Arthur Wong

Officer of Speakers' Engagement

Arthur is a third year undergraduate reading Geophysics. He was fortunate enough to spend the summer within HSBC's wealth management division. Previously, he was working as a voice over actor for various films and Disney Channel. Aside from his commitment to the conference, Arthur is the Senior Analyst at the Griff Investment Fund and writes for the Market Mogul on global economy. Recently, he has co-founded the company Fuelling the future and represents the university in gymnastics.

  • Alexander Murtagh

Officer of Speakers' Engagement

Alexander is a second year undergraduate reading Philosophy, Politics and Economics. He has previously carried out work experience at Oxford Economics, written for The London Economic newspaper and is heavily involved in political activities. Aside from his more academic interests, he represents the University in Rugby Union.
